Judith P is putting the
final touches on our new Browse & Borrow book collection
located in the Center lobby. There is an interesting array of fiction and
nonfiction books of Jewish interest as well as a children's section. If
you have already borrowed a book, please bring it back to the JCC (place it on
the bottom shelf of the children's section) so we can catalog it. If you
put your name and phone number on a slip of paper in the book, we will call you
to pick it up after it has been recorded and book plate has been inserted.
PS Judith is looking for donations of Jewish
children's books for the collection.
WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO TO HELP
THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL?
This is the question each of us is asking as we follow the events unfolding in
Israel. We anxiously watch our televisions and computers and we feel the urgent
need to demonstrate support for the State of Israel in this moment of crisis.
And we mourn the loss of innocent civilian life this conflict is causing on both
sides.
Now is the time for us to stand with Israel in solidarity. There is much to be
done — and much you can do to show Israel that we care.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Thank
our Government for its support of Israel in its effort to disarm Hizbollah.
Call the White House, our Senators, and
Congressmen. Ask them to encourage Israel to continue its DEFENSIVE military
operation to destroy Hizbollah rockets and infrastructure in Lebanon, NOT to
succumb to world pressure to impose a false"cease fire" that would protect and
strengthen both Hizbollah and Hamas Terror groups.

Letters
requesting your 2008 membership dues were sent out last week. It is a great
opportunity for you to support the JCC of LBI at this time, when cash flow
is slow. In addition, if you mail in your check now, you can take a full
deduction for a charitable donation in 2008. Please call the office if you
have not received your letter and return envelope (those members who joined
in September 2007 or after, are fully paid for 2008.

At the Jewish Community
